After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two persons in the VSS Nagar MMS scandal for allegedly circulating sex videos on social media platforms, the State’s Crime Branch (CB) police have registered at least five cases recently taking suo motu cognisance of such cases being reported from various places in the State.

Cases of sex videos circulating through mobile phones and other social media platforms have come to the notice of the Crime Branch in at least five cities. The CB police have registered cases against unnamed persons. Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma said police have been instructed to take suo motu cognisance and register cases if such incidents come to their notice and initiate probe into them. The Crime Branch would provide all necessary technical support in the investigation.

Out of the five cases, one has been registered in Baleswar and two each in Rourkela and Bhubaneswar, Sharma informed. Meanwhile, the Baleswar sex MMS videos on mobile phones have created panic in the town. As per reports, at least three sleaze videos have been circulating in the area for quite some time.

According to IG (Eastern Range) Asit Panigrahi, the Baleswar police have not received any complaint yet, but they have registered a case from their side. However, investigation reveals that some college students have uploaded the act of consensual sex on the internet. Stringent action would be taken against the offenders as per the provisions of law. Similar incidents have been reported from other cities and police have begun investigation into them.
