The Crime Branch police on Wednesday began investigations into the alleged land grabbing and immoral activities of arrested godman Surendra Mishra alias Sura Baba of the Trahi Achyuta Ashram and his two sons Biranchi and Trilochan.
Notably, the Crime Branch is currently investigating into the allegations of sexual escapades, cheating and amassing of huge fortunes by fraudulent means of another godman Santosh Raul alias Sarathi Baba of Kendrapada after arresting him and his adopted son Satyam last month.
“After the Trahi Achyuta Ashram matter was transferred to us following State Government’s orders, we have registered four new specific cases and formed four separate teams to investigate them,” said Crime Branch ADG Bijay Kumar Sharma here on Wednesday.
While three cases related to the FIRs filed in the Balipatna police station by the victims, the fourth case pertains to the report filed by the Commissionerate Police, Sharma said, adding that the investigating teams have already started their probe.
He further disclosed that while a four-member team has already begun its probe in the Trahi Achyuta Ashram near Bhubaneswar, the arrested father-sons trio are now being quizzed by another team at the police headquarters here after taking them on a three-day remand.
It was, however, not known whether the Crime Branch would also take up the fresh cases that are now pouring in from different parts of the State alleging murder, cheating, human sacrifices and criminal conspiracies against Sura Baba and his sons.
