PNS

The Cuttack Bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Tuesday rejected three petitions filed by former Kendrapada SP Satish Gajbhiye challenging his suspension order.

Sources said the CAT has asked Gajbhiye to file a counter in the State Police Department within 15 days.

Notably, the State Government placed Gajbhiye under suspension on August 13 for alleged police excesses during a demonstration staged against Sarathi Baba in Kendrapada district. As SP, he had ordered a lathi-charge on the protesting public.

It was alleged that Gajbhiye was giving undue protection to self-styled godman Sarathi Baba.

Gajbhiye was also embroiled in allegations of illegal acquisition of Government land in the Gop area of Puri district.

later on October 20, the Union Government confirmed the suspension of the IPS officer as per the All India Service Rules.
