Special Judge Kendrapada Sessions Court Bijay Ketan Mohanty on Friday convicted three persons and awarded them rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 13 months for making casteist remarks on a Dalit.
The trio was identified as Bibhuti alias Bhajanananda Panda, Sibabrata Panda and Sanjukta Panda of Pandia village under Patkura police station. Sanjukta Behera, wife of Alekha Behera of Pandia village, had filed a complaint at Patkura police station in 2006 alleging that Bhajanananda, his son Siba and Sanjukta allegedly had assaulted her apart from making casteist remarks.
