Caste heads of Nuapada district in a joint letter to the Collector have appealed for further extension of shutdown at least for next two weeks considering the worsening Covid situation in the district.
The Zilla Sarba Jati Samaj Samannway Samiti leaders have also questioned the laxity of the district administration towards management of the pandemic.
"Number of Covid positive cases has touched five hundred; death rate has also significantly increased, which clearly reflects the gravity of the situation. There are Complaints about lack of oxygen in the Covid Hospital at Nuapada, Covid-positive people even without having isolation facilities are being forced to stay in home quarantine as TMCs are not functioning. Such non-adherence to Covid rules by the district administration itself is causing spread of Covid in the district," stated the letter. Copies of the letter were also been sent to the State 5T Secretary and the local CMO.
