To increase cashew-nut production and create market link for growers, the State Government is planning to establish a cashew processing cluster at Jeypore in Koraput district soon.
MSME Minister Jogendra Behera said this at a workshop held at Jeypore on Tuesday.
The Minister was speaking on ‘Scope and Opportunities in MSME sector for self-employment’ organised on the occasion of Entrepreneurs Week-2016.
“Climatic condition of Koraput is very much conducive for cashew cultivation and the cashew produced here has much demand in other parts of the country,” he said.
However, cashew production in the district has come down owing to a number of factors, including lack of Government support. As many as 55 cashew processing units are operating in the district.
