Members of the Sachetan Nagarik Manch here on Thursday gheraoed the Sea Beach police station demanding action against those responsible for tucking cash in mediapersons’ kits on Wednesday.
BJP workers also staged a protest in front of the Simha Dwar of the Shree Jagannath Temple here and burnt effigies of Puri MP Pinaki Misra and Puri MlA Maheswar Mohanty, who were present at a Press meet where the money was distributed. Meanwhile, the Sea Beach police started probe into the case and questioned some mediapersons, who were present at the Press conference, UCO Bank authorities and staff of the hotel where the meet was held.
“We have received two FIRs, one from a group of 15 journalists and the other from the Sachetan Nagarik Manch, in connection with recovery of Rs200 each from the kits of reporters and camerapersons,” said police station IIC Pravas Chandra Sahu.
