The Rajnagar police on Saturday night registered a case against 200 agitators of Bagapatia and Charigaon villagers for illegally detaining the Additional Sub Collector, the Tehsildar and the tehsil staff of Rajnagar for more than 20 hours on Thursday.

Kendrapada SP Satish Kumar Gajbhiye said the Rajnagar police registered a case on Saturday night on the FIR of Additional Sub Collector Gagan Sahu. However, no body was arrested in this connection and an inquiry was on, he said. Meanwhile, the agitation of the locals of Bagapatia and Charighari continued for four days on Sunday in front of the Rajnagar tehsil office.

It may be noted here that hundreds of residents, including women and children of Bagapatia and Charigaon villages, have been holding fast unto death in front of Rajnagar tehsil since Thursday last demanding release of village head Manguli Parida from jail. They also demanded revenue village status to Bagapatia and Charigharia and the record of rights that landless persons got from Kanika tehsil in 1974 and also from Rajnagar Tehsil in 1991 be considered as valid, besides Government sponsored benefits to all villagers.
