In a shocking incident like the ones in the badlands of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, a city-based industrialist, Deepak Swami, was allegedly kidnapped by some miscreants from Magnetic Square under the Infocity police station here on Tuesday night.
Acting on a complaint by Deepak’s wife, police have begun investigation into the incident.
As per the complaint filed at the Infocity police station, Deepak has a factory in the Choudwar area of Cuttack. Since the factory was shut down, some shareholders were threatening Deepak to return their money.
The complaint mentions that on Tuesday night when Deepak was returning home, the kidnappers followed him in two cars and abducted him.
Deepak’s wife even met the Police Commissioner on Wednesday, requesting him to trace her missing husband.
The businessman’s father said he suspects threat to life of his son since the kidnappers have vented out their revenge based on previous business enmity.
He further said he suspects the hand of particularly two persons behind the incident and if the police question them they could reveal some clues about his whereabouts. When he tried to contact the duo over their cell phones, their phones were switched off, he said.
Sources said Deepak had taken more than Rs 1 crore hand loans from different people. The abduction incident has sent shockwaves among denizens.
