After getting tips from local villagers since July 22 that an adult tusker having several gunshot injuries on its body was wandering in the Nuagada forest under the Narsinghpur Range, forest officials are in a mission to spot the pachyderm and tranquilise it for treatment.
However so far, they have failed to locate the tusker which is running hither and thither in the jungle after seeing human beings, said Range Officer Prafulla Dehury.
Besides, during the rainy season, the foliages in the jungle is creating obstacles to spot and tranquilise the ailing tusker, he said and added that nevertheless, the officials are trying hard to achieve their mission.
