Maintaining that there has always been a conflict between developers and customers at the time of building a flat, Revenue Minister Bijayshree Routray on Thursday said the customers pay for the plinth area at the time of taking possession.

He appealed to the developers to go by the carpet area and charge additions on square feet of super plinth area and it would provide a common solution. The Minister was inaugurating a four-day Property Expo organised by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (Credai), Odisha Chapter here.

“Housing is a basic need and it has been constantly demanded. For the retail customers, the nationalised banks have taken steps to give housing loan,” he added.

Ollywood actor and MlA Akash DasNayak, who is the brand ambassador for the expo this year, said the customers are facing a lot of difficulties after purchasing a plot or flat due to land and infrastructure problem. Such type of exhibition would solve the problem, he added.

SBI CGM B Venugopala Reddy informed about the facilities given by his bank.

Credai Odisha national member DS Tripathy said, “We will provide a platform to our real estate members as well as other stakeholders to facilitate their overall growth.”

Credai IPP Binay Krishna Das said about the basic focus areas of this year’s expo.

A total of 50 participants have opened 120 stalls in two AC hangers at the exhibition.
