The Brahmpur University (BU) authorities have urged the State Government to extend help to the cyclone-affected students by way of waiving their examination fees.
Governor and Chancellor of Universities Dr SC Jamir has been apprised of the issue, which has also been discussed with the Higher Education Department Secretary, university Vice-Chancellor Prof Deepak Kumar Behera said on Tuesday.
The request of the university authorities has come in the wake of the refusal of the postgraduate students to fill up examination forms for the first and third semester examinations. Following the protest, the authorities have extended the date for submission of forms to December 6. The first and third semester examinations are due in the first week of January 2014. The university Students’ Union had also urged Revenue Minister SN Patro to waive the examination fees when he visited the university recently.
