The Baleswar Vigilance has filed chargesheet against five officials and a contractor, who also happens to be Keonjhar MP’s private secretary, in a MPlAD misappropriation case in Ramla village under Champua block.

It was alleged that Rs 20 lakh was allotted to a road work in Ramla village but false bill was produced and the entire money was misappropriated in 2011. The SP vigilance after a detailed investigation into the matter had raided the houses of four officials including a BDO, an assistant engineer, a junior engineer and an executive engineer of DRDA and detected assets in excess of their known sources of income.

According to a report by the vigilance, the same work was completed by Sarada Mines in Ramla village. MP Jaswant Singh laguri is a native of the village. The work was executed in May, 2011 with an expenditure of Rs 31, 43,147. It was surprising how the MP again sanctioned Rs 20 lakh from his MPlAD fund for the same work in December 2011 and had recommended the work order to be given in favour of his private secretary.

The vigilance booked cases against Surendra Jena, Gourahari Sahoo, Bimbadhar Sahoo, Dhaneswar Nayak, Madan Mahon Biswal and MP’s private secretary Jagannath Purty. Meanwhile, BJP has demanded the BJD MP to be brought under the fold of the investigation too.
