The Baleswar Town police on Saturday arrested the man who had absconded after allegedly killing his second wife on Thursday. Jeet Amresh Satpathy (35) was nabbed from Angul district while trying to flee to Chhattisgarh after tracking his mobile phone, said police, adding that he was forwarded to court after interrogation.
“The accused is booked under Sections 302, 304(b), 498(a) of IPC and 4 of DP Act,” Baleswar PS IIC Bijay Kumar Murmu said. Amresh had committed the coldblooded murder of Nirupama Ghosh in his residential house in Bagabrindaban in the town.
Amresh told the police during interrogation that he had come in contact with Nirupama, a resident of Raibania, Jaleswar, through Facebook. While she insisted on marriage to him, they were married in a temple and lived in his house for a couple of months.
But he learnt that she had relations with many other persons which continued even after the marriage. She too shared some photographs of her intimate moments with her lovers by uploading them in Facebook account.
Amresh said Nirupama after staying in his house was also often picking up quarrels with his first wife Jayshree. On the day of the murder, the altercations between them had aggravated, forcing him to kill her. Amresh had married his first wife Jayshree eight years ago and they have a five-year-old son.
