The performance of Baleswar district is very dismal in implementing various schemes under rural housing. The fact came to the fore while Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahu conducted a review on Friday. The district remained in the 29 position out of 30. Reviewing the performance of the district in last three years, the Minister found that many housing projects were lying idle due to lack of initiative of the concerned development officers and engineers.
He expressed strong displeasure over performance of the district and asked the officials to meet 80 per cent of the target by June 30 or else face the action. Sahu also sought the reasons from the BDOs and engineers of the block behind the tardy progress and directed them to expedite works. District Collector Sanatan Mallick, BJD Chief Whip Ananta Das, MlAs JP Dash, Jyotiranjan Panigrahi, Sukant Nayak, Parsuram Dhada, Nityananda Sahu, Aswani Patra, ZP president Umilata Das and the PD DRDA were among the others present.
