Prangya Prasanti Sahu, who has made Baleswar district proud by winning a silver medal in 100-metre hurdles in the Asian Junior Athletics Championship held in Colombo recently, was felicitated by the district administration with a memento and a citation on Tuesday.
District Collector Ramesh Chandra Rout assured all possible help for the future of Prangya, who is a student of Plus Three first year Science student with Physics Honours at the Remuna Degree College.
“Prangya is the second woman huddler of the State to take part in an international event after Olympian Anuradha Biswal whose national record was 13.39 second. Although she clocked 14.98 second, she has a tremendous potential and needs encouragement,” president of college governing body Pradipta Panda, ex-MlA, said, adding the college would felicitate her on Wednesday.
Prangya is the daughter of Partha Sarathi Sahu, administrator of an English medium school, and Sukantimani Jena, a Government primary school teacher, of Tikarpada in Basta block.
