locals threaten stir against delay
The Proof Road Suraksha Manch, a local civil society body, has threatened to resort to agitation against the delay renovation of the Proof Road here. Manch members led by Abhay Das submitted a memorandum to the district Collector to this effect.
They informed that the condition of the town patch of the road has gone from bad to worse and needs immediate repairing.
Earlier, a meeting held by the Collector on December 30, 2013 had decided that the road connecting the Station Square to the Patrapada Square would be renovated by the Defence Ministry.
The Defence authorities then assured to complete the tender process and ancillary works before April 2014. But it is yet to initiate the process, the manch members appraised the district Collector.
The manch warned that it would take to the streets if the work process does not begin within next 10 days.
Among others, Tapas Sahu, Ramchandra Patra,
Dr Bijay Panda, Dr Dhrubapada Das, Dr Santanu Das, Girija Das, Sairul Haque and Salim Raza accompanied Das to submit the memorandum.
