A Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited (BSNl) General Manager was caught red-handed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) here on Tuesday while taking bribe from a contractor.
Sources said BSNl (Microwave Projects) General Manager GC Bidika had asked for bribe of `1 lakh for passing the pending bills of the contractor. However, CBI sleuths somehow got the information and caught him with the bribe money.
Bidika’s residential houses at Khandagiri here and Rayagada were also searched to detect if he has assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
It might be mentioned the raids took place when Bidika was celebrating his 50th birthday on the day. It seemed that he would spend his birthday behind bars.
