BSF personnel located two landmines at a place near Boipariguda and defused them with the help of a bomb squad on Wednesday. Sources said the 143 BSF after being informed about the landmines sealed the area on the Malkangiri-Boipariguda road and called for the bomb squad to defuse the bombs.
The BSF staff had dug the same place four days ago to locate landmines hut could not find one. Thinking that the BSF would not conduct a search at the place again, the Maoists planted the landmines there to easily target them, suspected an official. BSF Commandant Praveen Bakshi, Deputy commandant Ramesh, Boipariguda PS IIC Ashok Mohapatra along with their staffs conducted the search.
