The Utkal Sammilani organised a meeting at its Mancheswar Industrial Estate Branch office here to mark the Bruhattar (Greater) Utkal Divas on January 1.
Presiding of the meeting the branch president Dillip Dashsharma said the Utkal Sammilani is very vigilant for protection of borders of Odisha.
Notably, Odisha, while formed as a State on the basis of language on April 1, had only six districts. However, 26 Gadajat States merged on January 1, 1948, and a Bruhattar Odisha was formed. later Mayurbhanj Gadajat merged in Odisha on on January 1, 1949. Hence, January 1 is observed as Bruhattar Odisha.
Among others, vice-presidents Pratap Chandra Swain and Sheetal Chandra Mohanty, joint secretaries Bibhuti Bhushan Swain and Ashok Kumar Palatasingh, Dr Shiba Prasad Mishra, Kshetra Mohan Nayak, Pratap Kumar Nanda, Maheswar Biswal, Sidharth Shankar Gadanayak were present.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Akhaya Kumar Jethi.
