A team of the Being Human Foundation led by Srikumar Mahanta submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir through the Subarnapur district Collector demanding inclusion of Subarnapur district under the Sambalpur Passport Kendra (PSK) jurisdiction.
ADM Biswanath Barik received the memorandum in the absence of Collector.
Notably, the Centre had opened a Passport Seva Kendra at Sambalpur a few months ago to provide Passport services to people of Sambalpur, Bargarh and Balangir districts. Balangir is 140 km away from Sambalpur.
“Subarnapur, which is 80 km away from Sambalpur, has been excluded from the Passport service available there. As people of Subarnapur district are travelling a distance of 320 km to Bhubaneswar to get the service, kindly take steps to include Subarnapur under the Sambalpur PSK,” the team urged the Governor through the memorandum.
Among others, Sailendra Meher, Kasinath Kudei, AES College president Amrut Naik, Jitu Badmali, Ram Shankar Bhoi and Rajat Agrawal were present.
