In yet another such incident, the superstitious practice of branding babies to cure them from ailments claimed the life of a baby in Malkangiri district on Thursday. At Sukraguda village in Malkangiri district, the four-year-old child’s body was branded with hot iron by his grandfather to cure him of some stomach ailment and fever. The baby succumbed to his injuries at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in morning. Following the death of the child, family members took the body to their village without informing anyone.
Sources said the child had been admitted into the hospital in a critical condition by the family members on Wednesday night.
The doctor, who treated the kid, said the patient was brought to the hospital late which is why he could not be saved.
