The Odisha Medical Employees’ Association (MKCG Medical College & Hospital Branch) at an emergency meeting here on Monday decided to go on mass strike from Wednesday protesting against the non-fulfilment of their “genuine” charter of demands.

The association submitted a memorandum to the medical college authorities, said senior journalist and trade union leader Rabi Rath, who is the advisor of the association.

Both permanent and adhoc employees would join the strike in support of their demands, said association general secretary Sukanta Mukhi. The association members would stop all works including cleaning and sanitation of the wards, and for any eventuality or inconvenience the hospital administration alone would be held responsible, he cautioned.

The meeting was presided over by advisor Rath. Among others, Saroj Panigrahi, Bhagya Chandra Behera, Ghana Nayak, Krushna Chandra Behera, N Krishna Rao and Bhaskar Choudhury participated in the deliberations.

If the hospital authorities do not make alternative arrangements before hand, the patients would be the worst sufferers, said the attendant of a patient.
