BJP unnecessarily dragging Govt into it, says BJD
A day after the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) announced that the report on the Brahma Parivartan irregularities would not be made public even through RTI, the opposition political parties on Friday came down heavily on the BJD Government over the decision.
The BJP has termed the move as “unconstitutional” and a “violation of basic human rights”.
BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya, addressing a Press meet, said, “The decision for not publicising the much-awaited report is a conspiracy against Odias and the Jagannath culture.
The way the State Government has handled the issue by breaking long-followed Constitutional rights and without caring for the Supreme Court’s hearing is aimed at hoodwinking the people of Odisha.”
Acharya further said, “The irregularities during the Brahma Parivartan is a reality which the State Government denied earlier. The temple Chief Administrator said action would be taken against the servitors who are involved in the irregularities.”
So, it means that as per the Chief Administrator’s statement, around 10 to 15 servitors are culprits. Besides, he apprehended that the report, if made public, might reveal the true colours of the Government, Acharya added.
Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra (Congress) said the decision is very unfortunate. “How a fiasco happening in the temple can be secret, besides without looking at the report how can one comment anything?”, he wondered.
However, BJD spokesperson Arun Sahoo said, “The decision comes under the ambit of the temple administration. The BJP is unnecessarily trying to drag the State Government into controversy.”
