The Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela, is going to focus on research work on various innovative projects in the coming days, said BPUT Vice-Chancellor DV Swami during the 17th foundation day celebration here on Wednesday.
Swami said besides offering graduation and post graduation courses in different streams, the BPUT is going to focus on various research works, mainly keeping in view practical problems of the industrial houses.
For this an MoU with the Vedanta Alumina Ltd would be signed for conducting research on thermal engineering process, he added.
“Besides, the BPUT also encourages the students to take up various startup projects, for which it would provide necessary financial support ," said Swami.
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela Director Animesh Biswas stressed on producing quality engineers instead of quantity engineers.
Focus should be given on improvement of quality of education so that graduates can compete globally and become job creators rather than job seekers, he added.
Rourkela Smart City Ltd Chief Executive Officer Rashmita Panda, who is also a BTech graduate from the BPUT, highlighted the use of technology in every sphere. BPUT Registrar Himasu Sekhar Behera delivered the annual report.
