The Brahmapur Agrani Natyanusthan Odisha Natak Samaroah Samiti will organise a five-day Sixth State-level Natak Mahotsav in the Ganjam Kala Parishad ground from January 16 to 20.
Samiti president Anil Kumar Patra told reporters here on Tuesday that drama Pathar of the Rageshree Nilayam of Nayagarh would be staged on the opening day.
The Samiti will also organise other cultural shows every evening. Since the city has no suitable auditorium for such performances, the Samiti is forced to hold this State-level drama festival under open sky even in the winter, said the organisers. The festival is held in November every year, but due to the Phailin it was shifted to this month. CPI(M) leader Ali Kishore Pattnaik criticised the apathetic attitude of the BMC and State Government for not constructing a suitable cultural complex or an ultramodern indoor auditorium at Brahmapur like the Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar.
