like the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, the Brahmapur police have decided to introduce a tenant information system to keep an eye on increasing criminal activities in the Silk City.
The decision was taken after the police seized huge quantities of ganja from residential areas recently and found alleged involvement of tenants in a double murder case of last month.
According to Brahmapur SP Sarthak Sarangi, the issue would be discussed in detail at the next meeting of community policing system. He said dedicated police personnel would be engaged to collect detailed information from house owners about tenants.
Sarangi said they would develop a system for the purpose and then appeal to house-owners to cooperate with the police. Notably, the ‘Aam’ police system (community policing) was introduced in the city in December last year which covers all 40 wards of the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation. Forty beat constables are assigned jobs to maintain public rapport.
