In order to ensure adequate administrative attention to all educational institutions in south Odisha, the State Government has decided to bifurcate the southern division of the Directorate of Higher Education.
Sources said the decision was taken following receipt of allegations that many colleges in the city were neglected for overloading of the Directorate that looks into affairs of seven districts.
The new division would be opened at Jeypore. The districts that come under the Brahmapur Directorate of Higher Education are Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Malkanagiri and they have a total of 394 Plus Rwo and Plus Three colleges.
