PNS

The Ganjam police on Monday arrested two persons from Bihar in connection with the double murder that had rocked the silk city on Wednesday last.

Sources in the police said two youths suspected to be involved in the shootout have been nabbed by a special police team from an undisclosed location in Munger district of Bihar. They would be brought to Brahmapur soon for interrogation, added the sources.

Soon after the incident, three teams have been formed to investigate the matter. Out of which two teams had been sent to Bihar to gather information about the suspects.

The Bihar connection of the assailants came to fore after the purses found from the possession of the deceased revealed their suspected area of operation in the State. According to the police, both the deceased as well as the assailants were coming in the same auto-rickshaw from Chhatrapur railway station to the city. After an argument, the accused shot the victims from close range near lanjipalli here. After committing the crime, the three assailants escaped from the spot by snatching a bike from a passerby. From the primary investigation, the police suspected that they might be part of a gang of train robbers from outside the State.
