Senior Scientist-Cum-Programme Coordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Angul, Dr Debabrata Panigrahi’s book enttled ‘Kitaniyantranara Naba Diganta,’ published by Draupadi Publication, Cuttack, was launched here by OUAT Vice-Chancellor Prof M Kar. The book describes the bad effects of pesticides, climate change and their impact on insects, e-pest surveillance, use of bio-pesticides in general and use of Bt, virus and pheromone traps in particular for bio-intensive insect management, use of indigenous technologies, transgenic plants and nanotechnology in insect management and use of new generation insecticides.
All these environment friendly insect management practices have special relevance for eco-friendly insect management and protection of environment. This is the third book by Dr Panigrahi where as “ Krushi Vikash” (Scientific cultivation of vegetables) and Kitaniyantranara Mulatatua ‘O’ Pranali “ being his first and second books respectively.
Dr Panigrahi has 60 research publications in Entomology and Agriculture in national and international journals and 120 popular articles, 30 booklets/leaflets on frontier farmer friendly technologies on plant protection and agriculture which have wide relevance for increasing food production. He has been awarded by “SCART, Odisha” and “Krushak Sambad” Cuttack.
