Five live bombs were spotted on the railway tracks between the Topadihi and Karampada railway stations on the Odisha-Jharkhand border on Monday.

Movement of trains was stopped in the section while the Jharkhand police and bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot to investigate the matter.

Reportedly, the bombs were first spotted by a driver of a goods train who alerted his higher authorities in the railways.

Since Maoists have called for a two-day Odisha, Jharkhand, Bengal and Bihar Bandh beginning from Monday, it was suspected that the placing of bombs on the railway tracks could be their handiwork, reports added.

While plying of buses from Rourkela to Jharkhand was halted, high alert was issued in the area in view of the bandh call by the Red rebels.
