BMC launches spl drive for PMAY execution

PNS

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday launched a special drive to implement beneficiary-led construction (BlC) for inclusion of more beneficiaries in the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The BlC is aimed at lessening gap between the housing demand and the actual supply/availability of houses under the Central scheme in urban areas. RoR records having joint names or name of beneficiaries’ predecessors and the delayed mutation proceedings delay allotment of houses.

The UlBs have been asked to overcome these difficulties so that more people would be covered under PMAY. In such cases, beneficiaries need to file specific affidavits before the executive magistrate.

Residents in all 67 wards of the BMC would be made aware of the guidelines through media advertisements from June 1 and 4, and ward-wise camps would be held to receive applications from beneficiaries from June 5 to 12. The compilation of information and preparation of register would be completed between June 13 and 21 and display of draft list of beneficiaries and verification would be published between June 22 and 30.

While ward Sabhas for recommendation of the proposal to the councils would be held between July 1 and July 7, final list would be published between July 10 and July 17.

The proposals forwarded by Ward Sabhas would be approved at a special council meeting to be held between July 18 and 20. Finally, the District Urban Housing Society (DUHS) would submit the proposal to the Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM) between July 21 and 25.
