As the Covid-19 cases are surging in the capital city, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday formed more Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) to monitor contact tracing, home isolation and Covid safety protocols.

A total of 39 teams have been formed for 67 wards. As many as 13 teams having a doctor, an awareness creator and an ANM have been deployed in each zone.

The teams would make door-to-door visits for health inquiry, data collection and distribution of medicine for those under home isolation, reports said. A special central team has been deployed for each zone to monitor all activities of the RRTs through a designated WhatsApp group that includes the dedicated contact numbers of all the team members for the better management in response to Covid containment.

Apart from contact tracing, the team would look into the issues of enforcement of Covid-appropriate behaviour in public place and ramping up of testing in the city.

Besides, the number of special Covid ambulances has been increased from 18 to 28 for transportation of patients.
