Block Resource Persons (BRPs), who provide agriculture training to farmers, on Saturday threatened to resort to a fast-unto-death agitation from July 11 in front of the Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahu’s official residence here if their demands are not met by then.
“We came to know that our post have been abolished from June 30, 2016. We are all trained in agriculture field and giving training to farmers for cultivation of onion, SRI paddy, pulses and vegetables. If the Government doesn’t withdraw the decision, we will be forced to stage hunger strike from July 11 in front of your residence,” said a release of State-level BlRP Association.
The association demanded that a high-power committee be formed to resolve their issues.
About 60 BRPs are working at different blocks, informed the release.
