The BJP Yuva Morcha  (BJYM), protesting against the violence during the BJD’s Hak Pain Hartal against fuel price hike on Monday, held demonstrations across the State on Tuesday.

The party demanded immediate arrest of the hooligans involved in vandalism during the protest.

“Activists of the ruling party assaulted common people and even misbehaved with women during their protest. Police, influenced by the State Government, remained a mute spectator only.  We demand arrest of the persons, including some MlAs and Ministers involved in the violence,” said BJYM State president Tankadhar Tripathy.

“Goondaism by BJD activists during the hartal is a move of the Naveen Patnaik Government to create panic among the people of Odisha. It even influenced police to remain silent during the protest. Condemning this, the BJP Yuva Morcha staged demonstration in all the districts,” said Tripathy.

The protestors squatted before the SP offices and Collectorates in the districts and shouted anti- Government slogans. The protests passed off peacefully without any untoward incidents, sources said.
