The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has urged Governor SC Jamir to cancel the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) examination conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) in November 2015.
Meeting Jamir at the Raj Bhavan here on Saturday, a 10-mmeber joint team comprising BJYM leaders and ASO aspirants submitted a memorandum urging him to look into the matter and keep the result and posting in abeyance till completion of inquiries into the alleged irregularities.
“Neither the examination was conducted properly nor were the question setting, answer and award of marks as per the guidelines of the OPSC,” the team alleged.
In some centres, specifically in KIIT campus and loila public school, questions were distributed 25 to 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time. In some centres, question papers were distributed 20 to 25 minutes late.
The questions were prepared not covering the whole syllabus to facilitate some select candidates who were in contact with question setters. It is found some candidates have not answered a single question, but they have been selected, said the team, adding, “We are ready to produce names and roll numbers of such candidates when it is required.”
Out of the 354 centres across the State, observers were sent only to 42 centres, giving the candidates an opportunity of doing malpractice in the examination.
Even some candidates had alleged that the invigilators facilitated malpractice and were favourable towards select candidates who were violating the examination norms, the team also alleged.
The candidates, who secured 320 to 330 marks, have been qualified whereas candidates securing more than 350 marks have not been qualified.
Before publication of the result, the OPSC has not published the answers keys / model answers and cutoff marks which deviates the OPSC guidelines as published in a Press note by the OPSC in PARA-3, the team alleged.
The team also alleged that some influential persons like politicians and bureaucrats helped their candidates clear the ASO examination and OPSC officers were bribed.
