Pressing for fulfilment of an eight-point charter of demands, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) observed a 12-hour bandh in Bhuban of Dhenkanal district on Friday.
Schools and colleges and shops and other business establishments remained closed as party activists staged picketing at various places in the town. Besides, the agitators staged a road blockade on NH-53 at Kalibazar bringing vehicular movements in the NAC to a standstill.
The demands included sub-division status for Bhuban, repair and widening of all roads in the NAC and construction of a permanent stadium. The activists threatened that they would intensify their stir in coming days if their demands are not met at the earliest.
