BJP yet to get Govt nod for Modi rally

While alleging that the State Government was delaying in giving permission to hold a public meeting at the Capital High School ground here on February 11, the BJP insisted that it would hold the rally on the venue even without permission and warned that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would be held responsible in case of any law and order situation. Notably, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the meeting at the venue.

“It is disappointing that the State Government is yet to give permission to hold public meeting at the Capital High School ground even though nearly a month has already passed since we applied for it on December 26,” rued party spokesperson Samir Mohanty at a Press conference here.

Informing that he and his party colleagues have already run from pillar to the post to get the permission, Mohanty said, “While the Commissionerate Police have already given nod to provide security support, it is not understood why the School and Mass Education Department is unnecessarily making us wait.”

He informed that the BJP must hold the meeting as party’s prime ministerial candidate Modi would address it.

“If the State Government does not give us permission despite repeated pleas, the BJP will go ahead with its meeting. The Government will be held responsible if any law and order situation arises,” Mohanty warned.
