BJP women protest Namtara firing

PNS

The BJP Mahila Morcha on Friday staged a dharna near the Raj Bhavan here protesting against the police firing on anti-liquor activists, mostly women, at Namtara village under the Rajkanika police station in Kendrapada district and minor motherhood at tribal residential schools in the State.  The women members later submitted a memorandum to the Governor urging for his immediate intervention in these burning issues.

The women workers and leaders led by BJP Mahila Morcha State president Simantini Jena demanded strong action against the police personnel who opened fire at anti-liquor activists of Namtara village. Jena said the probing agency owned by the State would not point fingure at the State Government’s misdeeds or irregularities. So impartial probe into theses sensitive issues could not be expected from the State Government, she added. “We want Governor should take initiative to give justice to the victims of police firing and to stop minor motherhood trend in the tribal residential schools,” Jena said.
