The BJP State Mahila Morcha on Tuesday launched a State-wide stir by gheraoing the district Collectorates across the State reiterating its demand of a CBI probe into the mysterious death of Haridaspur Panchayat VLW Smitarani Biswal.
The Morcha also demanded ouster of the Jajpur district Superintendent of Police for his remarks on the character of the deceased VLW. They also demanded dismissal of the State Commission for Women (SCW) Chairperson for allegedly misusing her powers.
The BJP members alleged that although the woman VLW was raped before murder, the State Government is silent on this matter and doing nothing to safeguard women rights.
The State Government should take a ‘zero tolerance’ stand on issues relating to women safety and security in the State, said the Morcha.
The Morcha also demanded stringent action against Kendrapada Credit Cooperative Society President Pramod Sahu, who has been accused of harassing a woman colleague.
