The BJP Mahila Morcha will stage demonstrations in front of offices of all district Collectors on Tuesday (October 5) to press for CBI investigation into the ‘killing’ of Jajpur district’s Haridashpur Village Level Worker (VLW) Smitarani Biswal and arrest of Kendrapada Credit Cooperative Society president Pramod Kumar Sahoo for sexually harassing a woman colleague.
“Even as 18 days passed since Haridaspur PEO Smitaran was raped and murdered, the police have arrested Rupesh Bhadra only. Though two Samiti members and ZP member of the BJD and Ramco officials were present at the time of incident, the police have not brought into purview of investigation,” alleged BJP Mahila Morcha president Pravati Parida.
Parida said the Mahila Morch would stage demonstrations at all Collectorates to press for CBI inquiry into Smitarani ‘killing’ case and ouster of the Jajpur SP for giving character remarks on the deceased and Chairperson of the State Commission for Women for her lapses.
The women activists would also protest inaction in the Kendrapada sexual harassment case. The activists would demand arrest of the accused.
Parida would lead the agitation at Kendrapada district Collectorate and later meet the victim and her family members, said she.
