PNS

The Ganjam BJP has threatened to launch a stir against the plan of the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) to impose various taxes and hike the holding tax rates for the residents.

In a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through the RDC Southern Range, the party demanded action against officials in BeMC who collected water cess in excess of the stipulated rate and flouted the rule by not depositing the same with the PHED.

Similarly, it alleged that whenever the Government took a decision to hike rates of taxes on land sale and purchase, benchmark valuation, holding tax, etc, it first implemented the same in Brahmapur. It lamented the misutilisation of crores of rupees under Swachh Bharat and protested the plan to collect Rs 600 from each household for maintaining hygiene. The party demanded special funds from the CM for development of Brahmapur muck like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri, besides development of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital. The memorandum was signed by former Brahmapur MLA candidate Kanhu Charan Pati, Gopinath Panda, Binayaka Rath, Madan Patra, S Rani and Sunil Kuar Sahu among others.
