A BJP delegation, led by party State vice-president Sameer Mohanty, met Governor SC Jamir on Saturday over the alleged discrepancies in the poll expenses of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his party BJD.
The team submitted a memorandum to the Governor seeking his intervention in the issue. later, speaking to reporters, Mohanty said, “Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is misusing power. Case is being under trial in the court against Hinjili MlA (Naveen Patnaik) relating to poll fund irregularities. But, MlA Naveen Patnaik, instead of appointing lawyer from his own side, misusing power by employing the Government lawyers in his case at the High Court and misutilising public money.”
In reaction, BJD spokesperson Pratap Keshari Deb said, “This is a political conspiracy. The allegations are baseless. It is only meant to defame the Chief Minister and the BJD in the eyes of the public.”
