Upset over the recent attack on Central Ministers at Bargarh and, moreover, over no action against the BJD leaders and workers involved in the crime, the BJP on Mondaystaged a dharna near the Raj Bhavan here and submitted a memorandum to the Governor.

Almost all the State party leaders, including party chief Basanta Panda, Bijay Mohapatra, KV Singh Deo and Sangita Singh Deo along with State in-charge Arun Singh participated in the dharna.

last week, the party had staged a demonstration in all 314 blocks across the State protesting the attack on Union Textile Minister Santosh Gangwar’s convoy.

“First, the Ministers were threatened not to visit Odisha, then posters were torn and then black flags were shown. later they were attacked. It is the most condemnable incident in Odisha history,” said Arun Singh.

He said the State’s ruling BJD has failed on all fronts as people are deprived of basic requirements like drinking water and electricity. Besides, there are large-scale irregularities in ration card distribution and a multi-crore chit fund scam.

Singh also reiterated the warning of imposition of President’s rule in the State.

“You (State Government) will attack on Union Ministers. The Centre will not tolerate this. There will be chance for imposition President’s rule in the State if such things prevails,” said Singh.

“Guests are like God in our Jagannath culture. But here, guests are being attacked by ruling party workers, but the Chief Minister has turned a mute spectator instead of taking any proactive measures to arrest the culprits,” rued Basanta Panda.

later, a delegation led by Panda submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir.

On June 28, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered an RDC inquiry into the Bargarh incident and sought a report within 60 days.
