Coming down heavy on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government, the BJP Krushak Morcha (BKM) State unit blamed the visionless and apathetic attitude of the State Government for the disturbing situation of agriculture in the State since 2000.
Chairing a meeting here on Wednesday, Morcha State president Maheswar Sahoo took up various farmers’ issues like distress sale of paddy, mismanagement of Mandis and lack of infrastructure in Mandis, farmers’ suicide, cattle trafficking, non-completion of irrigation projects, Government’s failure in potato mission, lack of encouragement for onion production and its preservation, absence of market linkage for mango and other fruits and non-fulfilment of vacant posts in various agriculture-related departments. The BKM decided to launch a State-wide agitation if the Government fails to solve the issues in coming days.
