Alleges booth capturing by BJD

The BJP on Saturday lodged a complaint with  Chief Electoral Officer Mona Sharma alleging that the BJD captured 84 booths in Keonjhar district’s Ghashipura Assembly constituency in order to ensure victory of its candidate and Higher Education Minister Badrinarayan Patra from the seat.

A team comprising BJP spokespersons Sajjan Sharma and Sameer Mohanty, Media Cell coordinator Anil Dhir, Krushak Morcha State president Maheswar Sahoo and party’s Ghashipura candidate Satyabrat Panda met Sharma and made this allegation.

The team further alleged that the BJD supporters drove away BJP agents and each of them pressed buttons in the EVM a number of times in over 22 booths in the constituency. They also submitted a video clipping to Sharma to this effect, a Press release said. Stating that the BJP had submitted a list of these 84 sensitive booths to the Election Commission, the party leaders urged the CEO to issue order for re-polling in these booths within 48 hours, otherwise, the party would resort to revolutionary path.
