BJP vice-president Prithviraj Harichandan on Thursday slammed the State Government for increasing the diesel and petrol prices in the State Budget.

“There is no provision in the State Government’s Budget for the welfare of the general public and the farmers. The provision to increase VAT for petrol and diesel would further augment prices of vegetables and essential commodities. It would add to the people’s woes only,” Harichandan said while addressing a protest rally held here on behalf of the BJP’s Bhubaneswar district unit.

The rally led by party’s Bhubaneswar zila woman wing president Bijaylaxmi Mohapatra was taken out form the party’s State office to the Ram Mandir Square. The activists protested the State Budget shouting anti-Government slogans and setting ablaze effigies of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Finance Minister Pradeep Kumar Amat at the Ram Mandiar Square.

Among others, leaders like Golak Mohapatra, Prasanna Dash, Sanjay Sahu and Biswaranjan Badjena were present.
