The BJP Krushak Morcha (BKM) on Saturday slammed the State Government for its alleged apathetic attitude towards farmers.
In a statement, Morcha State president Maheswar Sahoo alleged that while many farmers are committing suicide due to crop loss and loan burden, the Government is not coming to their aid.
Sahoo demanded that the Swaminathan Commission recommendation be implemented and the farmers be given MSP of Rs2,100 and bonus of Rs500.
“While allowances of Government employees have been increased by 10 per cent, the recent announcement of a bonus of meagre Rs 100 over minimum support price (MSP) per quintal of paddy to farmers is like trying to satisfy children with lollypop,” he said.
