Evan as the Question Hour and the Zero Hour were conducted normally in the State Assembly on Friday safter two days of disruptions, Opposition BJP members staged a silent protest by covering their mouths with black clothes.
Congress and ruling BJD members participated in both the proceedings. All members were present during afternoon hours when some bills and resolutions were presented. Friday was a Private Members’ Day.
When the House met, BJP members kept standing at their respective chairs with their mouth covered with black badges. They staged a silent protest demanding a CBI probe into the alleged murder of Jajpur district's Haridaspur Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) Smitarani Biswal.
But they removed the black the clothes from mouths on the Speaker's request.
During the Zero Hour, they also sat silent and didn’t raise any issue despite repeated requests from Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro.
Earlier in the morning, Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik had told a Press conference that the BJP members would stage a protest by tying black badges. He said the MLAs would continue to do so till the Government has not ordered for a CBI inquiry into the PEO ‘killing’ and has not expelled the Jajpur SP for his ‘character assassination’ remark and the State Commission for Women Chairperson for not conducting an investigation into the incident properly.
It may be noted that BJP members had staged a protest in the Well of the House demanding a CBI inquiry throughout Thursday.
