BJP may gain in B'maharajpur ZP zones

PNS

Three political parties, BJD, BJP and Congress, have put their all efforts during campaigning to win majority numbers of 13 Zilla Parishad seats in Subarnapur district in the ongoing pancyayat polls that began on Monday.

With the Zilla Parisad president post reserved for Scheduled Caste Women category, party leaders are keeping a close watch on Ullunda Zone-2, Birmaharajpur Zone-1 and Tarbha Zone-1 where SC women candidates are in the fray.

Notably, BJD had own majority of seats and formed the ZP Council in the last term.

While Birmaharajpur block, a BJD bastion, has a total of 15 GPs and two ZP zones, 31, 445 voters in Zone 1 and 33, 079 voters in Zone 2 would decide fates of candidates in fray for Ward Member, Sarpanch, Samiti Member and Zilla Parisad posts.

Similarly, Ullunda block has a total of 17 GPs and 2 ZP zones and 33,236 in Zone 1 and 28, 970 voters in Zone 2 would decide fates of candidates in fray for the four kinds of posts.  This block is also under Birmaharajpur Assembly constituency held by the BJD MlA.

Now, people’s discontent on district BJD leadership is increasing by day to day. Hence, the BJP is likely to gain much from the changed scenario, feel political analysers.
